Dear Historical Society Members,
These are truly unprecedented times and with that, unprecedented measures are required. Our Historical Society has from it’s inception spent numerous efforts bringing people together and preserving and sharing our local history, and now we have to keep people apart. What a difference several weeks makes.
We are truly saddened that circumstances now require us to implement new guidelines for meetings following the daily changes in rules and recommendations for the COVID-19 epidemic. We know it is for the best interest of you and the entire society membership. We have had to make difficult and probably unpopular decisions over the last several weeks, and before this is over this will likely double in days and weeks to come. We will keep you informed through your e-mail and by mailing cards to those who do not use e-mail. If you have changed or change your e-mail or mailing address please let us know as soon as possible. No one knows how long this will last. My personal opinion is this will end or we have some confidence in effective mediation of the virus when we have wide distribution of a vaccine. Hopefully by fall, unless we see a resurgence of COVID-19, we can resume some semblance of our societies activities.
We have canceled all meetings and society activities through April. I anticipate that we will have enough information in the next several weeks to make a decision if we will have to cancel all society meetings and activities for the rest of the year or at least through the summer months until September or October.
Please know that the safety of you and all our society members are our biggest concern. We hope this all ends very soon.
